Last week, almost 200 NFL players took a knee in solidarity against Donald #Trump’s divisive comments and racial inequality. This week, only about 52 remained true to the movement, while some took a knee prior to the National Anthem.
Amid the NFL vs Trump firestorm last week, many were eager to see how Trump’s friends and donors would react in the wake of his attack. While, Patriots owner Robert Kraft surprisingly made a statement against the comment, others like Dan Snyder and #JerryJones remained mum. However, that Monday, Jones made a statement with his team by kneeling prior to the anthem as a sign of unity. Although it defeated the purpose of #ColinKapernick’s original protest, Trump was pleased that his friend did not go against his demand to stand during the anthem.
According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, Trump called the #DallasCowboys owner four times asking him not to take a knee during the anthem. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ultimately, Jones complied.
