According to the New York Post, Donald Trump is unfazed by Kanye West’s recent announcement of running for the presidential election.
Last weekend, the artist alerted his fans about his possible presidential run in a tweet, which said,” We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States 🇺🇸! #2020VISION.”
Although Trump was nonchalant in his reaction to learning about his new opponent, he referred to it as “very interesting,” in an interview RealClearPolitics.
Despite Kanye’s recent talk with Forbes, where he revealed that he is no longer a MAGA stan, Trump claims there is no animosity between the two.
”He’s a very good guy,” Trump told FOX News in a recent interview. “He is a person that I get along with very well.”
While West declares that he is “taking off the red hat” for good, Trump insists that the mogul will remain on his side, adding that he believes West would choose him over anyone else.
”He is always going to be for us, and his wife is going to be for us,” Trump said, according to The Hill.
When talking about the aspiring politician, he mentioned that he could see West filling in his shoes at the White House one day.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Trump said the rapper has a “real voice.”
Though Trump showed support of West’s run in the election, he added that it might be the wrong time.
Because the star did not meet the application deadlines in specific states, Trump said that West’s run for president would only be a “trial run for what’s going to happen in four years.”
With less than five months until the election, West still has not officially filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission, and he did not meet the guideline to appear on the ballot in five states.
