Former President Donald Trump has no plans of rejoining Twitter despite his friend, Elon Musk, purchasing the platform.
During a chat with Fox News on Monday, Trump confirmed that he would not be returning to the platform that banned him for sharing harmful misinformation about the 2020 election, COVID-19, and more. Instead, Donnie has chosen to focus on his own platform, Truth Social. Despite his opposition, he wished Musk well on the new endeavor.
“I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it, and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on Truth,” he said.
Trump’s lethal Twitter account and several of his other social media accounts were finally barred after years of false information. However, his claims took a deadly turn when they helped to invoke the January 6th insurrection. At the time, Twitter cited the “risk of further incitement of violence” as the reason why Trump was given the boot.
Musk says his plan is to enforce free speech on Twitter, though it is unclear if he will reinstate Trump’s account. In the early days of his suspension, Trump criticized the platform for censoring him. His complaints fell on deaf ears, and he remained banned. As a result, Trump launched Truth Social and sued Twitter, Facebook, and Google’s YouTube. He says his platform will be “a voice for me.”
“And that’s something nobody else can get,” he shared.
