Former President Donald Trump is redoubling his admiration for Russian President Vladimir Putin while simultaneously praising Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.
While talking at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, he called Zelensky “brave” and “hanging in” amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
Trump called Putin “smart,” claiming that Putin being smart wasn’t the problem. Instead, he called our leaders dumb in letting him “get away with this travesty and assault on humanity.”
The former president criticized President Joe Biden and his administrations handling of Russia’s invasion into Ukraine. He claimed that Russia would not have invaded if he had still been president.
“Under Biden, Russia invaded Ukraine. I stand as the only President of the 21st century on whose watch Russia did not invade another country,” he said.
In addition, Trump took the opportunity to refer to the 2020 election as stolen once again.
