According to Billboard, Dr. Dre is receiving a Grammy for his longstanding career as a legendary producer. The super producer has won a grand total of six Grammys, including three that were for producing or engineering. The special tribute from the Recording Academy’s Producers & Engineers Wing will be on Jan. 22 at Village Studios in Los Angeles, California. It will take place four days prior to the 2020 Grammys.
Dr. Dre has a long resume of hits starting with producing his former group that he co-founded, N.W.A., for the classic debut album “Straight Outta Compton” in 1988. He went on to create hits and multi-platinum albums for Eminem, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Eve, Jay-Z, Nas, Mary J. Blige, Gwen Stefani, Busta Rhymes, Xzibit, The Game, and more.
Dre also has success outside of music in founding Beats Electronics in 2008 with Jimmy Iovine. They launched Beats Music, a streaming subscription service six years later. Apple obtained both Beats Electronics and Beats Music in 2014 for $3 Billion. Congratulations, Dr. Dre, on your continued success.
