Dr. Anthony Fauci says that he feels better that he no longer works underneath Donald Trump’s administration.
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for Dr. Fauci, the leading health expert in the Covid-19 pandemic. According to NBC News, the public health expert said he feels freer to speak about the coronavirus now that he’s working alongside Joe Biden’s team. During his first briefing since Biden took office, Fauci said Biden’s administration plans on being “completely transparent, open and honest.”
“One of the new things about this administration is that if you don’t know the answer, don’t guess. Just say you don’t know the answer,” Fauci said. “It is somewhat of a liberating feeling,” Fauci said Thursday. He added that Trump’s mob often scrutinized him for being honest about the virus and the situation the country is in.
It’s been almost a year since the deadly Covid-19 struck our nation, and many headlines surfaced about Fauci’s continuous struggle with Trump and his team. At one point, Trump called the public health official a “disaster” and made a false claim that Americans are “tired of” Covid-19. On top of that, Trump would refuse to wear a mask, which ultimately led him to catch the virus.
Fauci said he met with Biden before the news conference and told the 46th President that “everything we do will be based on science and evidence.” Fauci’s appearance will be one of many, as White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Fauci and other public health officials would be present at future press briefings.
