Popcaan welcomed Drake back to his homeland of Jamaica, while Drake welcomed the artist to his OVO label.
The island’s favorite Dancehall artists came together in St. Thomas for Popcaan’s Unruly Fest. After performers swept the stage creating a revved-up vibe, it was time for the “Wine For Me” singer to take over. However, a surprise appearance by Drizzy, who didn’t perform, still made the night a memorable one for fans. It was at that moment, he announced Popcaan’s official signature over to the OVO group.
Even Tory Lanez, who recently ended his beef with the Champagne Papi, was there to celebrate the exciting come up in the Vybz Kartel Gaza-associated artist’s career.
Popcaan, now, joins the ranks of artists like Majid Jordan, Baka Not Nice, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and more.
Talks of officially coming together, apparently, went on for a long time, according to Drake’s announcement Sunday night. However, that hasn’t stopped the two from fusing prior to joining the label. Popcaan worked with OVO’s head honcho, Niko, to direct his Toronto-shot music video for “Unruly Rave.” He also got a feature on Drake’s “Controlla,” which was debuted on ”Views.”
Well, that’s one heck of a holiday present. Congratulations, Popcaan!
