Drake’s legacy is expanding as he adds several new platinum plaques to his impressive collection through his ongoing achievements.
This week, Drizzy marked his 37th birthday by adding 14 new certifications from the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). In terms of albums, “Take Care” has reached 8x platinum, “Nothing Was the Same” is now 6x platinum, “Thank Me Later” has achieved 4x platinum status, “Certified Lover Boy” is certified 3x platinum, and “Her Loss” has attained 2x platinum status.
In terms of singles, “Hold On, We’re Going Home” featuring Majid Jordan has reached an impressive 9x platinum, while “Headlines,” “Started From the Bottom,” and “The Motto” featuring Lil Wayne have all achieved 8x platinum status. His collaboration with Rihanna, “Take Care,” has attained 7x platinum certification. Several other songs have also received new certifications, including “Laugh Now Cry Later” featuring Lil Durk, which is now certified 6x platinum. “Money in the Grave” featuring Rick Ross and “Knife Talk” featuring 21 Savage and Project Pat have both achieved 6x platinum and 5x platinum certifications, respectively. Additionally, “Wants and Needs” featuring Lil Baby has been certified 5x platinum.
As reported by Chart Data, Drake has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first artist ever to surpass 200 million RIAA-certified single units as a lead artist. His remarkable total now stands at 223 million units, which includes an impressive quartet of diamond-certified songs: “Hotline Bling,” “One Dance,” “God’s Plan,” and “Sicko Mode” with Travis Scott.
In response to the announcement, Drake took to Instagram to share text messages from Mr. Morgan, the president of OVO Sound, who informed him of his remarkable new milestone.
“Tried to have this all go live for you yesterday, but we certified a lot of certifications for your bday,” the messages said. “Drake now has 223M RIAA Digital Certified Song Units as a lead artist. First artist to cross 200M in RIAA History.”
This latest achievement follows Drake surpassing Eminem in December 2022 to become the artist with the highest number of certified singles in RIAA history. During that milestone, Drake earned an additional 10 plaques from the RIAA, bringing his total to 184 million singles sold. Prior to that, Eminem held the title, achieving 166 million units for his singles catalog in March 2022.
