Billboard’s highest honor ranks best-performing artists based on their activity on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200 charts. It also considers the artists touring revenue and social media data during the decade. Billboard collected data from December 1st, 2009, and September 30th, 2019, to determine this year’s honor.
After initially appearing on Billboard charts in 2009, Drake has scored nine Billboard 200 No. 1s in the 2010s. He has landed six Hot 100 No. 1s during that time. His overall entries across all Billboard charts now stand at 232. Additionally, Drake also holds the title for most Billboard Music Awards, having received 27 total.
Drake will join “Stan” rapper Eminem, who won the award for the 2000s, and world-renowned vocalist Mariah Carey, who took home the honor for the 1990s.
The “Take Care” star will receive his Artist of the Decade Award live on-air Sunday, May 23rd at 8 p.m. The show will be shown on NBC.
