Drake has been the butt of sports jokes as of recently but someone somewhere thinks he knows a thing or two about athletics because the YMCMB rapper will be hosting the ESPY Awards this year. The ESPY’s (short for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award) are set to take place on July 16th in Los Angeles and will honor athletes for their achievement and performance over the year. Think the Grammy’s for sports stars.
“This is an incredible opportunity for me to combine two of my biggest passions—sports and performing,” Drake said in a statement. Sources say Drake was very adamant about landing the ESPY’s gig, using his hosting work at SNL from earlier this year as leverage.
