Drake’s close friend Top5 has been picked up by police once again.
The Toronto rapper, born Hassan Ali, was arrested on January 24th and now faces six weapons-related charges, including Careless Storage of a Firearm and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm. His court appearance was scheduled for January 25th, but no updates have surfaced.
This arrest comes after Drake recently dismissed warnings to distance himself from Top5. Earlier this month, the pair attended a Toronto Raptors game together, with Top5 sharing an Instagram video captioned, “Me & twin @champagnepapi.”
However, music manager Wack 100 strongly advised Drake to sever ties with Top5.
“Drake needs to get away from Top5. He’s bad news,” Wack stated in an interview with “No Jumper. ”
Holding a USB drive on camera, he added, “This has been in existence for about 90 days… That dude, with his mouth and the things he says, it does not support your career.”
Top5’s controversial history includes a first-degree murder charge for the 2019 shooting of Hashim Omar Hashi, which was dismissed last September due to inadmissible evidence. Drake reportedly helped fund Top5’s legal defense, though the rapper later edited his Instagram post thanking him.
Since his release, Top5 has remained loyal to Drake, even inserting himself into the OVO boss’s feud with Kendrick Lamar by threatening the Compton rapper. Despite the legal troubles and public scrutiny, Top5 continues to spark headlines with his bold actions and close ties to the 6 God.
