Draymond Green has had a lot to say about USA basketball during the Olympics. His criticisms have no boundaries, and he has made a point of mentioning that Rudy Gobert has been on the bench countless times during Team Feance’s run to the gold medal game. Green also didn’t hesitate to call out Steve Kerr’s rotations during a recent match, and on the latest episode of his show, he revealed he almost created a group chat with LeBron James and Steph Curry to figure out what was going on.
“My heart was in my stomach during that game,” Green confessed to NBA legend Baron Davis. Davis joked that Green seemed ready to jump through the TV or text a player, which led Draymond to reveal just how close he was to actually messaging members of Team USA.
“I was this close to putting Bron and Steph in a group chat,” Green said. “Like, bruh, c’mon, man. At halftime, we were down 11. I was this close to group texting them. But I was tweeting like crazy. We couldn’t lose this game. Even though I’m not on this Olympics team, I vividly remember winning in 2021 and saying, ‘The next step is to beat France in France.'”
This moment of foreshadowing is wild, as Team USA and France are set to face off tomorrow at 3 p.m. Eastern in the gold medal game after the French’s upset win over Germany. Green emphasized the significance of this moment, calling it a once-in-a-lifetime event for many. All eyes will be on the game to see if Team USA can secure a definitive win or if they’ll face another tough battle.
