Everything is an adventure in Florida, including an evening out at Olive Garden.
Diners at a Naples area Olive Garden walked outside to find a drunk, shirtless, belligerent man eating pasta by hand as he shouted expletives at people passing by and demanded money.
According to a police report from the Naples Police Department, officers were dispatched to the restaurant last Sunday around 3:30 p.m. to deal with the disturbance. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When cops arrived, they found 32-year-old Ben Padgett, visibly intoxicated, smelling like booze and eating spaghetti with his bare hands. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
An Olive Garden employee called the cops after Padgett caused a scene inside the establishment and was asked to leave. The employee, Ronald Worst, said that Padgett yelled and threatened him, claiming “I could beat your ass,” and asking him outrageous questions like whether or not he had male or female sex organs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When cops arrived, Padgett did not simmer down. He continued to mutter obscenities at the officers, so they placed him under arrest for disorderly intoxication. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Cops had to clean him up before placing handcuffs on him. They gave him napkins to clean the pasta off his face and hands, but the mess didn’t stop there. While handcuffed in the back of the patrol car, Padgett twisted violently, kicked and smashed his head against the metal partition causing a bloody gash on his head. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated and then went straight to jail. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He was additionally charged with resisting an officer without violence and was released on $2,000 bond.
