Sophomore linebacker of the Florida Gators, Antonio Morrison, is no stranger to getting arrested but it looks like he may have found the dumbest thing to get himself locked up over. Congratulations Antonio!
What did 19 year old Antonio Morrison do you ask? He barked at a police dog. Apparently that’s a crime. Morrison was just a bystander when Gainesville police responded to a disturbance near an after hours club. One of the officers had their K9 in the car. Reports say Morrison walked up to the police vehicle and began barking at the dog, which of course caused the dog to bark franticly. The officer says that Morrison’s actions prevented police from do their job properly and obviously annoyed, they asked Morrison to step to the front of the vehicle. When the officer tried to cuff Morrison, he resisted.
Morrison was arrested late Saturday night on charges of resisting an officer without violence and harassing a police animal. Harassing a Police animal falls under Florida statute 843.19.4, which reads:
(4) Any person who intentionally or knowingly maliciously harasses, teases, interferes with, or attempts to interfere with a police dog, fire dog, SAR dog, or police horse while the animal is in the performance of its duties commits a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s.775.083.
On June 16, Morrison was arrested for punching a bouncer at Gainesville bar. I wonder if anyone has noticed that Morrison is only 19. I’m sure he and the bars he’s getting wasted at are lucky no one is bringing that up.
