Dwayne Johnson Is Interested In Starring As The Next James Bond

Dwayne Johnson recently sat down with Esquire, where he opened up about his desire to star as the next James Bond.

Johnson revealed that his grandfather, Peter Maivia, played a villain in 1967’s You Only Live Twice. At the time, 007 was played by the legendary Sean Connery.

While Johnson says he would like to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps, he aims for the leading role. There has been a lot of discussion surrounding who should play the next Bond, now that Daniel Craig has starred in his final Bond flick, No Time to Die.

“I would like to follow in his footsteps and be the next Bond,” the Red Notice actor said. “I don’t want to be a villain. You gotta be Bond.”

Even if it doesn’t work out, the actor has a ton of movies on the way, besides Red Notice, which just came out. Black Adam is set to release next summer, and The King and San Andreas 2 are among his upcoming projects.

There is a glimmer of hope that Johnson could make a return to the Fast & Furious franchise and reprise his role as Lou Hobbs. After publicly feuding with Vin Diesel, Diesel has apologized to The Rock.

“You have a very important role to play,” Diesel said. “Hobbs can’t be played by no other. Hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny.”

One can only hope for a Hobbs and Dominic Toretto reunion!
