Dwight Howard is grieving the tragic loss of his dog, Sunday, who was reportedly killed in an alleged hit-and-run incident over the weekend. The former NBA star, now playing in the BIG3 league, shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, posting several photos and videos in tribute to his Belgian Malinois.
According to Howard, the incident occurred on June 18th in Suwanee, Georgia. He revealed that Sunday was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. “I need answers,” Howard stated in his post. “And I won’t stop searching until I find out what happened to my beautiful Sunday.”
In a series of emotional reflections, Howard spoke about Sunday’s deep impact on his life. “You were my peace. My protector. A reminder of everything beautiful and calm, just like those early Sunday mornings,” he wrote. “You were joy. You were warmth. You were my girl. And your life was cut short too soon.”
Supporters of the three-time Defensive Player of the Year flooded the comments with condolences. One follower expressed, “My condolences, brother. Sunday was a beautiful dog. May you find the answers and have peace.”
Howard’s public plea underscores not only his personal loss but his determination to seek justice and closure for his cherished companion.
