Dwight Howard is taking his divorce battle with Amy Luciani to another level, securing a temporary protective order as tensions between the two continue to spiral.
The former NBA star was granted the order following claims that Luciani showed up to his home on April 5 after weeks of no contact and allegedly made threats during the encounter. According to court documents cited by Us Weekly, Howard said she “threatened to punch” him in the throat and “threatened to kill whoever was in the car” with him. He also alleged she attempted to interfere with his chances of retaining custody of his daughter.
A Georgia judge signed the order on April 7, requiring Luciani, whose legal name is Amber Howard, to stay at least 100 yards away from Howard, two of his children, his home, and the children’s school. The ruling also grants Howard temporary exclusive use of the residence and a vehicle, while prohibiting Luciani from contacting him or the children.
The filing comes after weeks of public accusations that played out online. Luciani previously posted emotional videos alleging Howard had a drug problem and claimed Child Protective Services removed one of his daughters. In one now-deleted clip, she held up a small bag containing a white substance and said, “I’ve been trying to tell everybody, he needs some help.”
Howard denied those allegations at the time, writing, “Never done Coke in my life,” and now claims the statements damaged his reputation and cost him business opportunities. In his latest filing, he also accused Luciani of defamation and described what he called a pattern of “excessive jealousy,” along with past incidents involving alleged substance use.
The couple, who married in January 2025, have faced a turbulent relationship marked by multiple divorce filings and dismissals. Howard filed again in March 2026, describing the marriage as irretrievably broken as the legal battle continues to unfold.
