Dwight Howard is being sued by his neighbor after she hit one of his cows while driving on a public road near his Georgia property.
RadarOnline.com has obtained court documents that reveal Howard’s neighbor, Teresa Nickerson, is demanding damages for an alleged March 10, 2020, incident.
In 2017, Howard bought a 700-acre farm to retire there. He also owned a separate compound nearby.
According to court documents, Nickerson claimed to be driving her car on a public road adjacent to Howard’s farm when she hit one of Howard’s cows. She further claims that Howard “permitted his livestock (cows) to run at large on or to stray upon the public roads of this state and other property.”
The suit claimed, “This collision occurred because of the negligence of Dwight David Howard, II in failing to keep his livestock contained to his farm and off the public highways of the State of Georgia.”
Nickerson claimed that due to Howard’s alleged negligence, she suffered severe injuries and accrued medical bills of $2,418.66.
Her lawyer claims that “Nickerson is entitled to recover damages from Dwight David Howard, II for medical expenses, and other actual damages to the extent permitted by law,” including damages for past and future pain and suffering.
It was also noted that the ex-NBA player lacked the time and expertise to raise livestock on a farm.
“Livestock belonging to Dwight David Howard, II has repeatedly escaped the enclosures on his Oglethorpe County farm,” the neighbor claimed. “Despite knowing livestock such as cattle will stray if not properly fenced, watered, and fed, Dwight David Howard, II has repeatedly allowed his livestock to stray from the Oglethorpe County farm, including on March 10, 2020.”
Furthermore, the neighbor claims that Howard “repeatedly allowed his livestock to stray from” his farm, “causing unnecessary risk of injury or death” to others.
However, in response, Howard argued that he didn’t personally own the farm; it belonged to an LLC, 2989 Holdings. He contended that the lawsuit should be against the company and not him individually.
The case is ongoing.
