According to ESPN, Dwyane Wade took about an $11 million reduction in guaranteed money over 2 years so that Miami could sign Luol Deng. Wade re-signed with the Heat yesterday receiving a two-year, $31.1 million deal with a player option for the second year. He will receive $15M this season, $16.125 next season. So far Wade has gone his entire career in Miami not being the highest paid player on the team, a title that’s been held by Shaq, Jermaine O’Neal, LeBron, Chris Bosh and others.Â
In a statement, Wade spoke on spending the rest of his career in Miami. “I am proud to have spent every single day of my career as a member of the Miami Heat and to have brought three championship titles to this great city. I’ve been here through the good times and the hard times. I have confidence in the Miami Heat organization and the team they are building. To all the Heat fans, in Miami and around the world, I know you will continue to show support for our team.”
