Household appliances company Dyson is breaking out a new product: air-purifying headphones.
The new headphones, The Zone, cancel noise, bluetooth efficient and they purify the air while you’re wearing them. The goal of the headphones and face visor double is to make it easier for people to function and breathe in heavily populated areas, The Verge reports.
With Dyson’s air filtration technology, the headphones suck in air through its earpieces and it is then filled and sent through the visor portion of the device for the user to breathe in. The headphones stay near the face and not on it with the use of magnets.
If the person using the headphones wants to chat normally with someone, they would just need to flip the hinges down. You can also adjust the airflow. The company released the news on Wednesday, saying the Zone can filter out up to 99 percent of particle pollution, The Verge reports. Buyers would have to also purchase new filters for the device as needed depending on how often you use it.
“Air pollution is a global problem – it affects us everywhere we go,” reads a caption on a post on the company’s Instagram. The quote comes from Dyson’s Chief Engineer, Jake Dyson.
“In our homes, at school, at work and as we travel, whether on foot, on a bike or by public or private transport. The Dyson Zone™ air-purifying headphones purify the air you breathe on the move. And unlike face masks, it delivers a plume of fresh air without touching your face, using high-performance filters and two miniaturised air pumps. After six years of development, we’re excited to deliver pure air and pure audio, anywhere,” the caption continued.
