Eddie Murphy in Talks to Play Funk Music Pioneer George Clinton

Eddie Murphy has been slated to play music iconic funk music pioneer George Clinton. 

From his smash hit Atomic Dog, to producing albums for major music groups like the Red Hot Chili Peppers to founding Parliament-Funkadelic, one of the most influential music collectives in the history of the music industry, George Clinton’s influence on the music industry has been massive. And that’s why his story is about to come to the big screen, with mega actor Eddie Murphy playing him. 

According to Deadline, the conversation around Murphy playing Clinton is in early stages, but the news outlet reports the actor has taken on the role of producer for the upcoming film as well. Right now, production is trying to get rights to Clinton’s music until it starts getting its writing team together. 

The film will reportedly detail Clinton’s life and career, going into creating his legendary bands Parliament and Funkadelic and how his artistry impacted the music industry.
