Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson–Herah just won Olympic gold and set a new record, finishing in 10.61 seconds in the women’s 100 meters today in Tokyo.
Thompson- Herah took home her second consecutive gold medal and broke Florence Griffith–Joyner’s previous mark by a hundredth of a second.
Her teammates followed closely behind her to secure silver and bronze medals for Jamaica as well. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce finished with a time of 10.74 and Shericka Jackson with a 10.76, respectively.
