A 74-year-old woman in Oklahoma is suing cops for breaking her arm in a brutal arrest that was caught on body cam.
According to TMZ, the attorney for Ruby Jones released the disturbing footage on Tuesday shortly before filing a lawsuit against Oklahoma City and the three police officers involved with the August, 2020 arrest.
Damario Solomon-Simmons, Jones’ attorney said his client suffered a broken right arm due to the officers’ “use of excessive force” when they came to her home to arrest her mentally ill son, Chauncey.
Court documents show the woman met the officers at her front door and refused to allow them into her home when cops refused to provide proof of a warrant authorizing entry.
The bodycam footage shows that when she denied them entry, they tried to handcuff her while screaming, “Let me see your f***ing hands.”
The suit alleges that Ruby pleaded with officers in an attempt to protect her son and when she refused to go outside cops “grabbed her arm, and forcefully yanked her out of the bedroom,” breaking her arm in the melee.
She is suing for assault and battery, excessive force, and more, seeking unspecified damages.
