We knew we liked Mama Apple for a reason!
Eli Apple was selected by the Giants in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft and ever since then, he and his mother Annie Apple have been a fan favorite. Even the NFL loved her. Love or not, however, Annie Apple is going to continue to speak her mind.
Annie Apple is slamming her son’s employers for the way they’re handling the Josh Brown situation. In an interview, Giants owner John Mara says, “He [Brown] admitted to us he’d abused his wife in the past. What’s a little unclear is the extent of that.”
Annie Apple, as a victim of domestic abuse in the past, was not happy about hearing that information. She took to Twitter to voice her frustration. “Don’t know why it’s difficult for folks to realize there’s nothing remotely acceptable bout violence against women. No excuse no justification,” she tweeted. “As a domestic violence survivor, reading these Mara comments makes me sad, angry and completely baffled. He just doesn’t get it. This is sad.”
Mama Apple continued, “It’s one thing to like someone or even a team. It’s a whole other thing to cosign the bullsh*t. Don’t cosign the bull. By the first time a domestic violence victim calls police, there are dozens of times before that she didn’t. Takes courage to seek help, justice. And Molly Brown is somebody’s daughter, sister, mother; more importantly a human. It’s not about my son’s boss. It’s about Molly’s suffering.”
A fan got irritated with Mrs. Apple’s rant and told her to “shut up” because she’s a “player’s mother.” Annie Apple replied, “I’m not just a mother. I’m a domestic violence survivor. I won’t shut up but you can always hit that unfollow button.”
Annie Apple spoke a good word and I hope the Giants organization is paying attention.
