Ellen may have done her greatest deed of all time. Comedian Quincy Jones was diagnosed with stage-four mesothelioma, cancerous tumors usually affecting the lungs, in 2015. After being told he had merely months left on his life expectancy, Quincy revealed that his last dream would be to film an hour-long stand-up special. His friends started a kickstarter campaign to make his dream come true. The goal was just $5k, but ended up raising over $50k after 1,200 people found it in their heart to give.
It doesn’t stop there, though.
Jones appeared as a guest on Ellen where he received the surprise of a lifetime. Not only did the fellow comic personally place a call to HBO to have them air the special, she also got Shutterfly to donate $15,000.
According to HBO, Quincy Jones’ one-hour stand up special will air on on April 4, 2016, at L.A.’s Teragram Ballroom. Tickets went on sale March 18.
I think it is awesome that Ellen could make this man’s dreams come true.
