Christopher Meloni is reviving his role as Elliot Stabler on the new Law & Order: Organized Crime series on NBC.
NBC has set a premiere date for the new Dick Wolf series, which features Meloni returning as the beloved NYPD detective he played in Law & Order: SVU. The series will debut on April 1st in a two-hour crossover with SVU.
The crossover will begin with Law & Order: SVU at 9 p.m. and Organized Crime premiering at 10 p.m. Meloni and Mariska Hargitay, who portrays the role of Olivia Benson, starred together on the first 12 seasons of SVU from 1999-2011 before he left the show.
Elliot will return to the NYPD after experiencing a personal loss. The series will follow him as he works to rebuild his life and tackle powerful criminal enterprises.
Meloni made his exit from SVU at the end of Season 12 after his contract negotiations were halted. On the show, Elliot abruptly retired from the force, and when Season 13 started, Olivia was crushed to learn that her partner had left without saying goodbye.
