The Epstein saga refuses to fade into the background. The latest release of documents from the House Oversight Committee is bringing new names to the forefront, and this time it’s some of the most powerful figures in tech, politics, and philanthropy. The newly unsealed records include daily schedules, financial notes, and appointment reminders, all tied to Jeffrey Epstein’s carefully documented lifestyle. Among the entries, Elon Musk, Steve Bannon, Peter Thiel, and Bill Gates are now being linked to potential meetings with Epstein after his 2008 conviction.
For Elon Musk, the documents list a December 6, 2014 entry that reads, “Reminder: Elon Musk to island Dec. 6 (is this still happening?).” The reference suggests that Musk was scheduled to travel to Epstein’s private island in the Caribbean, a location already infamous as the setting for some of Epstein’s most disturbing crimes. Musk immediately denied the connection once the entry went public, posting “This is false” on X, formerly Twitter. Musk has said before that Epstein tried to insert himself into his orbit, but he never had meaningful dealings with him. Earlier this year, Musk even stirred controversy by claiming Donald Trump’s name was in the Epstein files, before deleting that post. Still, the appearance of his name on Epstein’s calendar raises more questions than Musk seems eager to answer.
Bill Gates also appears in the 2014 schedules with a “tentative breakfast” entry. This isn’t the first time Gates’ association with Epstein has come under fire. Gates has publicly admitted meeting with Epstein on several occasions and later called it “a huge mistake.” Critics argue that Gates should have known better, especially since Epstein was already a registered sex offender at the time. Musk has taken shots at Gates in the past for his ties to Epstein, saying he wouldn’t trust Gates around his own children. The resurfacing of Gates’ name in these new records only adds fuel to an already heated conversation about his judgment and decision-making during that time.
Peter Thiel, the billionaire investor and co-founder of PayPal, shows up in Epstein’s calendar for a lunch meeting in November 2017. This entry is particularly eye raising because it demonstrates that Epstein was still in contact with influential figures long after his first conviction. Beyond the scheduling notes, reporting also reveals Epstein’s Southern Trust Company invested roughly $40 million into Valar Ventures, a Thiel-linked firm, in 2015 and 2016. That investment later grew to an estimated $170 million, raising eyebrows about how much of Epstein’s money flowed into major Silicon Valley ventures. Thiel hasn’t publicly addressed the calendar entry or the financial connections in response to this latest document release, leaving many to speculate about how close that relationship really was.
Steve Bannon’s name also surfaced, listed in a February 16, 2019 breakfast entry. This was only a few months before Epstein’s final arrest and imprisonment, making the timing especially striking. Bannon has not denied the specific calendar reference but has been vocal in calling for a full-scale investigation into Epstein’s network. Just this summer, he demanded that a special prosecutor take over the files to ensure transparency. While Bannon has positioned himself as someone pushing for answers, his appearance in Epstein’s own schedule now puts him on the defensive and forces him into the very conversation he’s been encouraging others to have.
The House Oversight Democrats who released the documents stressed that the calendars and schedules don’t prove the meetings actually took place, only that they were planned. Still, the fact that Musk, Gates, Thiel, and Bannon appear in Epstein’s records at all shows the extraordinary reach Epstein had into some of the highest levels of business and politics. All four men are now facing a storm of questions from the public, the press, and victims’ advocates about what they knew, what they discussed, and why they were even in contact with Epstein after his 2008 plea deal.
None of these figures have been accused of crimes related to Epstein’s trafficking network. Yet the optics are powerful, and the reputational damage is real. Gates has already acknowledged his regret. Musk is denying outright. Thiel remains silent. Bannon calls for more files to be released while avoiding this new entry tied to his own name.
What happens next could reshape how the public views Epstein’s influence. Lawmakers are pushing for all 8,544 Epstein documents to be released without redactions. Investigators may seek corroborating evidence like travel records, emails, and financial trails. And the public is growing impatient, demanding full accountability.
One thing is certain: Epstein’s shadow still looms large, and the names tied to him now have to answer questions they would rather avoid. Musk, Bannon, Thiel, and Gates are all in the spotlight, and the calls for truth aren’t going away anytime soon.
