SpaceX Begins Accepting $99 Preorders For Its Starlink Satellite Internet Service As Musk Eyes IPO

Elon Musk’s SpaceX is running a public beta test of its Starlink satellite internet service. The company is now accepting preorders for $99. Prospective customers can enter a service address on the company’s website. Starlink will be offered first in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.

SpaceX will begin targeting coverage in various regions between mid-2021 and early 2022. According to the company’s website, the preorders are fully refundable. However, placing a deposit does not guarantee service. Depending on your region, orders can take six months or more to fulfill.

Starlink’s public beta program began in October. SpaceX priced the activation fee at $499 to order the Starlink kit. There is an additional maintenance fee of $99 a month. The kit includes the Wi-Fi router and a user terminal or satellite connection dish.
