Equinox and SoulCycle Owner Feeling The Heat As He Plans to Throw A Fundraiser Supporting Trump

written by @saywooord

Stephen Ross, billionaire and owner of Equinox fitness and SoulCycle is planning a Hamptons fundraiser for Donald Trump where attendees will pay up to $250K to attend. However, since the news broke, many have begun boycotting the luxury gym and all of its associated businesses.

The Washington Post broke the news, leading to an outcry of disapproval based on Trump’s most recent statements and policies targeting people of color, many of whom believe his statements do not support the gym’s progressive and famous clientele.

According to CNN, a spokesperson for Equinox and SoulCycle stated, “Neither Equinox nor SoulCycle have anything to do with the event later this week and do not support it. As is consistent with our policies, no company profits are used to fund politicians.” She continued to say, “We are committed to all our members and the communities we live in. We believe in tolerance and equality, and will always stay true to those values. Mr. Ross is a passive investor and is not involved in the management of either business.”

Many businesses, clients, and publications and associates of Ross find this fundraiser to go against everything he and his businesses stand for, as many took to social media to communicate their outrage. All in all, the event can cause Equinox and SoulCycle to lose much support, as many are now moving to their competition as part of the campaign to boycott the gym.
