Texas rapper Erica Banks landed in hot water this week after TSA agents found a stolen gun in her Louis Vuitton bag at Atlanta’s airport. Banks, who was heading to Houston on Wednesday night, said she had no clue the .380 mm black Smith & Wesson was inside.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, TSA flagged the weapon during screening. When officers checked the serial number, they discovered it was reported stolen back in 2018 in Greensville, South Carolina.
Banks told authorities the gun belonged to her “security,” but when pressed, she couldn’t provide a name. She was arrested and booked at Clayton County Jail before being released a few hours later.
Now facing a charge of theft by receiving stolen property, the “Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta” star has brought in high-profile defense attorney Jackie Patterson.
“It is our contention that when she was caught with this weapon, she had no idea it was stolen,” Patterson told WSB-TV 2 Atlanta. “So she is not guilty of any offense. And once we get to court on this case my job is to make sure this never becomes a part of her criminal history and to have these charges dismissed.”
