Erica Mena is firing back at “Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta” producers over their forthcoming colorism roundtable.
The franchise announced that they’d be airing a special titled “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta: Racism, Colorism, and the Uncomfortable Truth.” Per the announcement, the conversation will dive into “events that aired on the show before MTV decided to stop filming with Erica Mena.” Several panelists, such as Dr. Sarah L. Webb of Colorism Healing and L&HH cast members Scrappy, Yung Joc, Spice, and Yandy, will sit down to discuss the effects of colorism in the Black community and on the series. Mena has an issue with being left out of the roundtable and the fact that she was only terminated because the network felt pressured by its sponsors.

“I was indeed filming nonstop for seven months after the actual incident between me and that other individual happened. The network chose to still film with me nonstop, which is why I was used as the base storyline for the whole second half of this actual season,” she commented under the post about the roundtable.
Mena was fired after calling Spice a “blue monkey” during an argument. Many people online pointed out that she has a history of calling Black women monkeys, which is highly offensive, especially coming from a non-Black person.
“Desperate to save face but true, and only reason a statement was even made by the network was because the backlash. Not because they truly believed what I said was a racial slur,” Mena added.
The actress then shared a post on her Instagram Story, showing her on set filming multiple times after the now-viral argument with Spice. She also slammed the franchise for making its stars look like “zoo animals” all these years.

The showrunners have not yet responded, but it should be interesting to see whether or not Mena gets her job back.
