Ernie Johnson Wins Sports Emmy, Gives It To Stuart Scott’s Daughters

The Sports Emmy Awards took place last night and among the nominees for ‘Best Studio Host’ was the late Stuart Scott, host of Sportscenter, who died of cancer earlier this year. Inside The NBA host Ernie Johnson won the award but it is what he did afterwords that made him a true winner.

During his acceptance speech, Johnson says “This belongs to Stuart Scott” and gives the Sports Emmy to Scott’s daughters Taelor and Sydni. “It all started with Stuart,” Johnson told the audience after he handed the award over.

58 year old Ernie Johnson knows exactly how it feels to be in Stuart Scott’s shoes. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2003 and continued to receive chemotherapy while still working at TNT’s ‘Inside The NBA’ through 2006.

What a noble thing to do, Mr. Johnson.
