Erykah Badu owns up to her behavior by apologizing to the Obama’s for being a “terrible guest” at Barack’s star-studded 60th birthday party at Martha’s Vineyard.
On Thursday, the Grammy Award-winning singer went on Twitter to issue her public apology, USA Today reported.
“Mr. And Mrs. Obama , Please forgive me 4 being the ‘terrible guest’ at such a sacred event for your family,” she tweeted. “I was so inconsiderate, Thank you for all your love. What an example of ‘how NOT ‘ to be.”
Badu, 50, signed off on her post using her formal birth name, Erica Abi Wright.
The singer denounced the claims that the Forever First Couple made her “take down the video and apologize publicly.” Badu replied, “Naw sis. It’s just right thing.”
Even though Obama’s birthday bash was scaled back due to COVID, it still had many stars in attendance, including Badu, H.E.R., John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Gabrielle Union, and Dwayne Wade.
At one point during the party, Badu captured a video—which has since been deleted—of a maskless Barack dancing with guests.
Artist Trap Beckham was also there and performed a special version of his hit single “Birthday Chick.” He also shared many photos and videos of the event but eventually took down the footage.
“Just want to take the time out to Apologize to Obama & Staff for using my social media Saturday as if it were a regular party,” he tweeted. “Tbh I was just excited & I never knew it would blow up like this.
Beckham also reposted Badu’s apology on Twitter Thursday, adding, “Well said. Truly a misunderstanding and a honest mistake.”
