If you’ve ever turned to ESPN and watched Sportscenter (which I loved to do after a long day) , you’ve seen Stuart Scott on your screen. It was announced this morning that the beloved ESPN anchor died today of cancer. He was just 49.
During the ESPY Awards on July 16th, shortly before his 49th birthday, Stuart Scott was honored with the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance. His acceptance speech was a great, yet emotional one to watch, as Scott had just finished another round of cancer surgery. “When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live,” he said. It’s safe to say he was beating cancer in the most inspiring way.
Stuart Scott was diagnosed with cancer in November 2007. May he finally rest in peace.
