Being black is a glorious thing and while many are picking and choosing parts of our culture to ‘overly appreciate,’ one woman has taken it to the extreme. Rachel Dolezal literally broke the internet after everyone found out that she was not a biracial woman, as she portrayed to be. Yes, Rachel Dolezal pretended to be black and she would have gotten away with it if it weren’t for you pesky kids.
Here’s the scoop. Rachel Dolezal is the president of NAACP’s Spokane chapter, teaches African American Studies at Eastern Washington University, wears “natural” hair, is a part time model, does hair out of her home and married to a part time rapper. Why wouldn’t she be black? Who in the world would think that she didn’t have at least a drop of black in her? That’s not what makes Rachel’s story strange, or why she was exposed. There’s a long, crazy, backstory on her.
According to Rachel, her father is black. She’s also married to a black man and according to her, has black kids. Rachel says that she’s been the victim of several hate crimes over the years. She did an interview with the news saying that her family received several threats and harassing letters mailed to her home but after an investigation, it was found that the letters had no postage stamps or bar codes so it was likely they weren’t mailed through the post office. Rachel made claims that her black father had bone cancer and never makes mention of her white mother other than she used to whip her with an actual whip. Crazy right? And at first glance, Rachel could kind of pass for biracial, hell or at least Creole, no? Her tanned skin, her love of afros and braids, we all have that one in our family. That’s the beauty of black, we come in so many hues. Here’s the problem, it’s all fake.
Rachel Dolezal’s real family reached out to the media and blew the cover off her entire operation. According to her mother Rachel has been falsely portraying herself as a black woman for years. Her mother says she began to “disguise herself” in 2006 or 2007, after the family had adopted four African-American kids. In fact, the dark skinned, dark haired Rachel Dolezal was really a blonde haired, blue eyed white girl from Montana.
The black father Rachel was claiming in photos was not her father at all. Her real father was white…and was at her wedding…and his name is on her birth certificate. Her tan is artificial. Her son is her adopted brother, and many are speculating that the racially charged letters she was receiving were all a ploy to get attention. Who knows if she’s really a hair dresser. Are those lies too, Rachel?
The news must have gotten hip to accusations that Rachel wasn’t black because when they so bluntly asked her, the look on her face was nothing short of priceless. “Are you African American?” the reporter asked. “I don’t understand your question,” she answered. You don’t understand the question? Girl, what?!?!
So here’s the thing. I don’t think anyone minds the fact that she fights the good fight alongside black people, women especially. We welcome you, but can black people have anything to ourselves? Our music, our hair, our lips, our anatomy is all a fashion trend and now we can’t even have our own race? You can’t fight with us without pretending to be us? See, this is how they infiltrate the system and learn all of our deepest secrets. Next they’re going to learn how to season chicken. And then what? What will we have?
Dolezal’s excuse? We’re all from the African continent so technically…..
Well played sis, well played.
For the record, both Rachel and her parents confirm that they haven’t spoken to each other in years. According to Rachel there is some type of law suit going on. As far as to why the Dolezal’s outted their daughter, no one knows. What the NAACP plans to do? They say they’ll look into it.
For now, enjoy these pics of Rachel.
