If you are a fan of HBO’s “Euphoria” series, you may want to reconsider getting into a new series.
The commencement of production for the highly anticipated new season of the drama series was fast approaching. However, this schedule has been altered to allow the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, additional time to refine the scripts.
“HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” the network said. “In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”
Furthermore, the cast of the show, featuring Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney, are now granted the freedom to explore alternative opportunities. However, it’s important to note that despite these changes, the cast remains bound by their contracts, and HBO remains committed to bringing Euphoria season three to screens in 2025.
During an interview with Elle for Zendaya’s September 2023 cover story, Levinson had hinted at the upcoming season, describing it as a “film noir.” He elaborated on Zendaya’s character Rue, suggesting that she would delve into the complexities of maintaining integrity in a morally compromised society.
HBO’s highly acclaimed series Euphoria stands as one of the network’s top-rated shows. Its last episode aired in February 2022, but tragedy struck with the passing of star Angus Cloud, who died in July 2023 at the age of 25. Despite this loss, the series had already been renewed for a third season, with the renewal announcement coming during the airing of season two.
Levinson had been crafting the storyline for the third season prior to the writers’ strike that began on May 2, 2023, according to sources. Given Cloud’s central role in the season two finale, the strike’s interruption left uncertainty regarding the creator’s original plans for the upcoming season.
