A former DEA agent known widely as “White Devil” has received over 13 years in prison for a long-spanning corruption scheme.
Chad Allan Scott was initially thrust into the spotlight in April 2016. That is the year that the New Orleans federal drug task force that he oversaw came under fire for alleged wrongdoing. He was ultimately arrested in 2017, has been behind bars since June after being convicted of theft charges for stealing the property of those he captured.
On Thursday, US District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo sentenced Scott to 160 months in federal prison. This sentence stems from him lying on the stand and ordering other agents to commit perjury in the federal prosecution of an alleged drug dealer, as well as manipulating documents to obtain a truck purchased for him by another defendant. The sentence gives him credit for the 20 months of house arrest he already served and his 2019 conviction for falsifying government records, perjury, and obstruction of justice.
The 53-year-old was a 17 year veteran of the Drug Enforcement Administration and was widely known among narcotic traffickers as “White Devil.” Despite his mountain of charges, he claims that he is “not the monster that has been portrayed.” Johnny Domingue and Karl Newman, who were also a part of Scott’s task force at the time of the corruption, testified against him at trial. This testimony helped them to receive just 34 and 42 months in prison.
Scott pleaded with Milazzo for a “second chance at life.” However, she did not spare the rogue officer.
