An ex-Department of Education substitute is facing charges after enlisting a Yonkers mother to send him videos of her performing sex acts on her 4-year-old son over a social media messaging platform.
Jonathan Rivera, 33, is charged with production of child pornography and receipt and distribution of child pornography. He was arrested on or around February 26 in Manhattan.
Rivera was a substitute paraprofessional in PS 147 in Brooklyn. He worked pre-K to 5th grade from January 2020 until July 2021. DOE spokeswoman Sarah Casasnovas said Rivera “chose not to return” and “had no disciplinary history.” Since his arrest, he has been suspended, and Rivera will be fired if convicted.
The Yonkers woman, Delicia Aguirre-Orellana, 22, was charged with production of child pornography, possession of child pornography, receipt and distribution of child pornography, and possession of child pornography.
“Allegedly at the behest of Jonathan Rivera, Delicia Aguirre-Orellana is accused of one of the most heinous acts imaginable – the sexual assault of prepubescent children – including the sexual abuse and video recording of her four-year-old son,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement. “The harm that child sex abuse can inflict on the most innocent of victims is something no child should bear.”
Prosecutors say that Rivera had similar conversations with other women online and believe there could be more victims. He used various platforms, such as WhatsApp, Badoo, Telegram, and Facebook, under multiple usernames. His usernames include Jriv3ra718, Jriv3ra11, Jaid3nrivera718, Thebrimbrothers, Jano59fifty, and Nathan.
“We believe there may be more victims of these alleged crimes, and implore anyone who may have information helpful to law enforcement to please call 1-800-CALL-FBI,” Williams added.
