Although Pras was recently found guilty of conspiracy, he has maintained that he is not an FBI informant or guilty of any other crime.
According to reports, a representative of the former Fugee member stated that both the internet and the authorities had been mistaken.
“Pras was never an FBI informant. It’s not accurate and, quite frankly, it’s dangerous,” his publicist, Erica Dumas, said. “If he was an informant, he would not be on trial. The government does not prosecute and threaten its informants with more than two decades of jail time.”
Earlier this week, Pras was convicted on ten charges, including conspiracy to defraud the United States, witness tampering, and serving as an unregistered agent for a foreign government.
Despite Pras defending himself, a handful of celebrities have labeled the rapper as a snitch. However, Public Enemy’s Chuck D has stood by his side, calling the situation a “prop-agenda machine.”
“Pras was a valedictorian in High School or in the final runnings,” Chuck tweeted. “They NEVER mention THAT. Instead USA propAgenda machine ALWAYS promotes this backwoods Jed ass Clampett tale of Hood gangstaS, which NEVER been a threat ANYWHERE other than Blackfolk. Wrong is wrong but this SMELLS.”
Afterwards, the rapper provided additional clarification in a subsequent tweet, stating that “the book and never mentioning it. That’s it. But the deeper you go into any of this Russell you discover a fraternity ALL pssing in the same urinal holding each others johnson.”
Nevertheless, Pras has not received a sentencing date yet but could face up to 20 years in prison.
