The drama never ends and we knew that it would only begin when two new women were introduced to Basketball Wives. Kesha Nichols the newest castmate of Basketball Wives has falling into the heat of the drama. BallerAlert caught up to Basketball Wives very own Kesha Nichols, she discusses on being what she expected being the new girl, how she feels about her other castmates and what really happen between her and Tami.
Check Out The Interview Below.
BA: Coming on the show what were you expecting?
K: Honestly the only experience I had with reality TV was that I was doing for my dance company, so I really had no idea what to expect. I didn’t know what was going to happen being the new girl on the most dramatic show on TV. (Laughs) I just tried to go in with an open mind not having any judgment against the girls; I wanted to know them as people not TV characters. I just wanted to have a good time and let whatever was meant to happen.
BA: Seeing previous seasons of the show and knowing the drama; did you think you were going to fall wayside to the drama?
K: My whole life I’ve always been around females. I cheered with girls in high school, I dance with them, I went to an all-women’s college and I own an all-female dance company now. I’ve always been a girly girl and around female all the time and I’ve never had any type of drama like that in my life. I wasn’t expecting to be in any confrontation or bullying with anybody, which kind of caught me by surprise.
BA: These women seem to have a more tough skin than any other women that you’ve been involved with. Through the drama you did make friends with Royce how did you’ll build a friendship?
K: I had never met Royce into I signed on for Basketball Wives; when you see us in the first or second episode having dinner that was our first time meeting each other. I’m not sure if they brought me on to be friends with Royce since we were both dancers and we both have dance companies. There was no competition or negative feeling toward Royce. The first time I met her she told me I was a breath of fresh air and I felt the same way about her and I knew were going to be friends.
BA: In the beginning it appeared that you and Kenya were friend. After the dispute between you and her about her audition and the speech she gave it was the breaking point in what seem to be a friendship?
K: Kenya and I were not friend we were acquaintance we knew each other when our ex’s were playing in Milwaukee. We didn’t hang out we just knew each other. When I was in Milwaukee a lot of the wives told me to stay away from Kenya because she had cause problems in the organization, and caused a lot if drama amongst the wives and the girlfriends. From that I kept my distance and I almost didn’t do Basketball Wives when I heard Kenya was going to be a castmate. It might have looked like we were BFF’s I guess that’s how they wanted it to look but in reality I wouldn’t say she was more than an acquaintance.
BA: Is she really as crazy as she appears on the show?
K: (Laughs) I’m not license to say if someone is crazy; but there is definitely something off about her.
BA: In the beginning it was kind of like Suzie wasn’t sure if she was going to like you. Once she went on the trip home with you she kind of changed. How did you feel about her?
K: Honestly I don’t have any strong opinions about Suzie; I don’t think she has a strong personality she just floats along with whoever is in the room. I felt like Suzie was in my home in North Carolina with my family I felt that we were becoming friends. She just provide to me that she goes alone with whoever says what, she doesn’t have any loyalty to anyone.
BA: That seems to be true because the argument that took place in Tahiti between you and Tami. It started because Tami was told something that you said to Royce and Suzie. What did you think about that?
K: Truth be told Suzie says that she didn’t tell Tami, and Royce says that she didn’t tell her. Tami also says that Suzie or Royce didn’t tell her. That’s not even the issue at hand because what I said wasn’t even that bad. What I was doing was talking to my friend in my hometown about what had happen. There is nothing that bad that I could have said about her that would deserve the reaction that I got from Tami and how she came at me. Suzie called me the other day saying I swear I didn’t tell her, Shaunie told her. It doesn’t matter what she said to Tami it’s what she didn’t say. She sat there and watched this woman go off on me and take my purse and try to go through my phone and you didn’t say anything.
BA: Not to shine to much light on Kenya and Suzie. The people that you’ve really have a problem with is Tami. It started with the comment she made about her race; how did you feel when she asked you that?
K: It wasn’t just the one thing; she kept bringing things up and saying little rude comment under her breath. For me I don’t mind when people ask me my ethnic because people ask me all the time. I know that I’m ethically ambiguous looking you might not be able to tell what I’ am by the way I’m wearing my hair, how tan I’ am or even what I’m wearing. I appreciate that because as a dancer and a model I get jobs, now is a good time to ethnically ambiguous. There is a way to ask not “Are you White?” That already puts me on the defense because she was already coming at me. She knew that I wasn’t white she wanted to say it like that to get my defenses up. I just laughed it off and was like I’m mixed I’m half black and white, and she says to me “You sound white”. She was saying to Evelyn she doesn’t look like a Kesha she looks like a Lisa, and she said it numerous times. It wasn’t the are you white thing that got me up set, it was that she made seem that I wasn’t black enough to be a Kesha.
BA: Now when she took your purse at first did you think that she was going to give it back?
K: When I was walking away and she was threatening me I was told by the producers they were going to get my purse for me. I thought I was going to have it, I took a different car back to the hotel and when I got there Suzie came and told me Tami had my purse. It wasn’t the fact that she took my purse it’s the fact my wallet, passport and my cell phone which was unlock was in there. The reason why there was no pass code on my phone at the time was because Evelyn had videotaping me in the water with the sting rays. It’s the most basic example of bullying that there is, she was violently yelling at me and she took my property. It was the most childish thing that has happen in my life.
BA: Has she extended an apology to you?
K: Tami has not apologize to me in person expect for one time and that was at the reunion. She said “I don’t apologize for what was said, I apologize for how it happen”. It was a half apology and I don’t believe it’s sincerely from her I think it came from her team because it was making her look good to her fan. I feel she apologized to me because she had to not because she meant it. She’s never called or text me or talked to me in private. When she had her mild heart I email her to say I sorry to hear that and that she was in my prayers, she hasn’t extended herself.
BA: After all that has happen if she was to extend an apology would you accept it?
K: I can accept someone apology but I will never be around that woman again. I will never put myself in a situation where she can bully me or have access to my property. I’ve been around her two times in those times she gone off on me and I will never give her that chance again.
BA: This week is the reunion show, not giving away anything does something between you and her happen?
K: It’s the first time seeing her since seeing the episodes. It’s very interesting in the timing of the reunion because we tape the reunion in between the two Tahiti episodes. I saw the first week of her bullying me on that Monday and then I flew to LA not seeing the second episode yet. The second one is worse than the first because it showed her going through my purse and beating on the door. You see me speak to her about it but I didn’t have all the knowledge not seeing the second episode. Now seeing that if I was to see her now it would be different.
BA: Other than your beef with Tami and your good relationship with Royce, are you close with any of the other women?
K: I don’t really have anything against anyone expect Tami and Kenya neither I really want to be in my life ever again. I don’t see any of them a lot. I love Royce and we keep in touch but she lives in Orlando and I live in New York. I’m not around any of them in my everyday life.
BA: What else are you working on?
K: I’m back I’m New York after being in Miami for 4 months filming the show. I’m working on my dance company Sugar and Spice; you just have to keep up with me to see what I have going on.
BA: Big question would you come back for another season after all this drama?
K: I’m not sure yet you’ll just have to wait and see. It’s part of me that wants to and part of me that doesn’t want to. Some of my fans are telling me stand up and show what a strong woman is, others are telling me run as far as way from that program as you can (Laughs). You’ll just have to wait and see.
