Tami Roman is proving there’s more to her than meets the eye. The multi-talented star, who’s been called “the hardest working woman in show business” by her mentor Mona Scott-Young, spoke with Baller Alert correspondent Shynieka Taylor at the premiere of her new show Haus of Vicious. In a candid conversation, Tami reflected on her evolution since leaving Basketball Wives, revealed a toxic trait she’s working on in her relationship, and shared her thoughts on the presidential race.
When asked what’s changed about her since her departure from Basketball Wives, Tami didn’t hesitate. “I looked at Basketball Wives and saw that I needed to change the narrative because that show, as great as it is, only gives a one-dimensional view of all of the people on the show. No person is one-dimensional; we all have layers, and I wanted the opportunity to show the world what you haven’t seen,” she explained.
And it’s clear she’s doing just that. Tami has been on fire, showcasing her talents across multiple shows and projects. Her dedication to breaking free from her reality TV persona and redefining herself as an actress and entrepreneur is truly inspiring.
But even with all her success, Tami keeps it real when it comes to her personal life. Shynieka asked about her character Chantel’s toxic relationship in Haus of Vicious and then turned the question back on Tami. “What’s a toxic trait of yours that you’re willing to admit in a relationship?” she asked.
Tami’s answer was refreshingly honest: “In my current relationship, I’m a bit of a micromanager. I am submissive, and I have honored the fact that I want to allow my husband to lead. It’s just that I do have my moments where I step in—I mean, we’re Black women, so we’re going to do that—and I’m an alpha female, so I’m going to step in when necessary.”
She didn’t shy away from admitting her challenges, and her willingness to grow and self-reflect is a testament to the new path she’s forging for herself. Tami is showing that you can be both strong and vulnerable, and that’s what makes her journey so relatable.
The conversation took a political turn as Shynieka asked Tami about her recent tweet regarding the presidential debate, where she called for more policy discussions instead of personal testimonies. When asked who she thinks has the upper hand now, Tami was careful not to reveal her vote but made her support clear.
“Without trying to say who I’m voting for, I think Kamala is doing really, really well in this race to the presidency. She’s a woman who understands what we need in this country, and it would be such an honorable moment to have our first Black woman president running the country and showing these men how it should be done,” Tami stated proudly.
It’s evident that Tami Roman is not just a reality TV icon but a woman with a strong voice and perspective, both on-screen and off. She’s using her platform to showcase her multifaceted talents, speak on important issues, and inspire others to evolve and grow.
Congratulations to Tami on her latest success with Haus of Vicious! We can’t wait to see what she conquers next because she truly is “that girl.”
