Expectant Dad Killed in Crash After Gender Reveal Party

Tragedy struck in England when a dad-to-be died in a car accident after his child’s gender reveal.

According to Chronicle Live, Ben Cann, 20, succumbed to his injuries on July 24 after a collision in Killingworth on July 2.

“When he popped the balloon and found out that he was having a girl he was ecstatic,” his mother, Judith Cann, said.

“I got the moment on video. He had left his gender reveal 20 minutes before the crash.”

The grieving mother said that though “never a party person, Cann had a wonderful time at the gender reveal and was excited about his family’s future.

She said, “He had the best day and had the biggest smile on his face. The one thing we can all say as a family is that we all got hugs and love and smiles and the best time with him on that day,” adding that he was an “absolute diamond” whom everybody loved.

“I could go on for the rest of my life telling you what I thought about Ben,” his mother added. “He was an absolute diamond and all his friends say that if any of them needed him he was always there.”

After Cann’s tragic death, a GoFundMe campaign has gathered almost $4,000 to help his family during this difficult period.

“Many of us knew Ben as trying his best at absolutely everything in life from passing his driving test in the middle of a world pandemic, he got up without a fail every single morning to finish his carpentry and joinery apprenticeship,” the page reads.
