For more than six hours, Facebook and its family of apps have been down, reporting issues logging into and posting on the sites. Although the reason for the outrage remains unclear, the parent company made it clear that the problems were not related to a cyber attack.
“We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible,” Facebook wrote on Twitter. “We’re focused on working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, but can confirm that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack.”
Despite Facebook’s attempts to resolve the issue though, Instagram and WhatsApp users reported a variety of issues, from not being able to load, share posts or post comments. In fact, most users took to Twitter to first report the outage and then tweet through the pain.
“We’re aware of an issue impacting people’s access to Instagram right now. We know this is frustrating, and our team is hard at work to resolve this ASAP,” Instagram wrote, as users responded with even more questions.
