Facebook Starts Sending Payments from $725 Million Privacy Settlement: Here’s How Much You’ll Get and When

If you filed a claim in the Facebook privacy class action, keep an eye on your inbox. Payments from the $725 million settlement are officially going out, starting this week.

Recipients will be notified by email. The subject line to look for? “Notice of Settlement Payment.” If you get that, expect your funds within a few days. Payments are being sent through whatever option you picked: Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, or direct deposit.

The average check will be about $29, though some may see a little less than $5 and others a bit more than $38. Your payout depends on how long your Facebook account was active between 2007 and 2022.

This settlement comes after Meta was taken to court over claims it gave third-party firms, including Cambridge Analytica, access to user data without proper permissions. That data misuse scandal rocked the platform and affected tens of millions.

Though Meta shelled out the cash, the company still denies doing anything illegal.
