An Atlanta Falcon’s practice squad wide receiver was arrested after getting into a police chase early Saturday morning in Atlanta.
Cameron Batson, 27, was pulled over on a highway for speeding and failure to maintain his lane. The officers issued a field sobriety test and determined he was driving under the influence.
Authorities attempted to arrest the NFL player, but he resisted, and an altercation occurred. At one point, one of the officers fired his gun but luckily didn’t hit anyone.
The receiver was able to get back in his car and left the scene, causing police to chase him. He eventually crashed his car and then tried to flee on foot.
Officers were able to detain him. He was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
“We have been made aware of an overnight incident involving Cameron Batson and are currently gathering information from law enforcement agencies,” the Falcons said in a statement. “We take this matter seriously and have no further comment at this time.”
Batson entered the league in 2018, signing as an undrafted free agent with the Titans after playing at Texas Tech. He spent four seasons with the team before signing with the Falcons practice squad in the 2022 offseason.
