A fan has filed a lawsuit against the New York Jets and the New York Giants because he claims they don’t actually play in New York.

A fan is allegedly trying to collect a big multi-billion bag through a lawsuit against the Jets and the Giants, arguing that the teams play in New Jersey, not in New York. According to the New York Daily News, the man filed the $6 billion lawsuit in Manhattan. In the legal document, the fan asked the teams to leave the MetLife Stadium and come back to New York by 2025.

And if they don’t make that deadline, he wants them to rebrand themselves as Jersey teams. Sports Illustrated reports that the fan is looking to get $2 billion in monetary damages and $4 billion in punitive damages.

“If the Giants and Jets want to call themselves New York teams, they need to come back to New York,” explained the fan, Abdiell Suero, in the suit, Sports Illustrated reports. “I’ve traveled to and from MetLife Stadium by mass transit and car service, and both ways are a nightmare.”

Suero claims that it jeopardized their fanbases when the teams moved to New Jersey to play. “Plaintiff and the class of New York Giants and Jets fans respectfully request that both teams return to the State of New York so they can enjoy all the healthy social, psychological and physical benefits associated with sports identifications of their home NFL teams,” said the plaintiff.

He continued: “The move to New Jersey financially benefited the defendants alone at the expense of plaintiff and the class of millions of Giants and Jets fans … Plaintiff and the class have suffered mental and emotional damage, including depression, sadness and anxiety … as a result of the Defendants’ conduct.”

In response, the Giants said in a statement: “This case has no merit and we will defend it vigorously.”
