How original is Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money” ? Not too original, according to the fans of Houston artist, Just Brittany. Early last year, Just Brittany released her single “Better Have My Money”. Now more than a year later, The Bajan princess has released her new single “Bitch Better Have My Money” and Just Brittany fans aren’t having it.
If writers from Rihanna’s camp did infringe upon the copyright of Just Brittany’s “Better Have My Money”, it wouldn’t be the first time an artist “borrowed concepts” and won’t be the last. The Beatles’, John Lennon, swiped Chuck Berry. Madonna jacked Public Enemy and poet, Ingrid Chavez . Even recently, the estate of Marvin Gaye went after Pharrell. Producer’s get their beats ripped more often than they would like and let’s not forget that black artists’ music was snatched and given directly to their melanin deprived counterparts before the airwaves were integrated.
With Just Brittany, the hooks and concepts are similar, but the core lyrics and melody differ. It is definitely enough to raise concern although it’s not too much creativity you can have with telling a chick to come correct with your money. I believe Dipset has a “Have My Money” song as well. And if memory serves me correct, AMG released “Bitch Better Have My Money” back in the day .
Compare the two and let me know what you think.
Just Brittany : “Better Have My Money”

What have we learned from this ? Copyright everything!
