UPDATE:
Following reports of the hit-for-hit VERZUZ battles no longer streaming on Instagram for free, Swizz Beatz came to the rescue to let fans know they will still be able to tune in at no cost on the social network.
Fans were up in arms Monday night after the official Instagram for the hit-for-hit webcast series revealed that the music showdowns will no longer be streaming on Instagram for free. In the original post, fans were told they’d need to sign up for a VerzPass, which is $2.99 (Monthly) or $29.99 (Yearly). There was also an opportunity for viewers to sign up for a free 14-day trial to catch tonight’s showcase which features Anthony Hamilton and Musiq Soulchild.
After seeing that the new requirements did not sit well with fans, the platform quickly changed its tune, allowing the showdown to be accessed for free on IG.

The evolution of Verzuz is quite literally a crash course on how capitalism slowly sucks the soul out of everything https://t.co/42SaoRs0Xe
