With the world still reeling from the Astroworld tragedy, a WizKid show on Sunday had all the makings of another concert disaster.
During his London performance, fans who did not have tickets rushed the barriers, overwhelming the security staff as they charged into the venue. A spokesperson for the O2 Arena says that venue personnel quickly contained the breach.

Eerily similar to the chaos that unfolded at Astroworld, the stampede occurred during the first day of Wizkid’s three-night concert. The venue is now on high alert, as all the shows are sold out, and there is a risk of fans organizing enough to rush the barriers during the Monday and Wednesday concerts.
Thankfully, no one was hurt in the mob. O2 Arena says it is now “reviewing security procedures for the remaining shows this week and advises fans to arrive early for security checks.”
WizKid’s opening night at O2 reportedly sold out just 12 minutes after tickets went on sale. He brought special guest Chris Brown out on stage, which was the singer’s first time performing in the U.K. in over a decade.
