Fantasia Talks Suicide

Fantasia Talks With “The Real” Hosts About Regretting Suicide Attempt: “I Just Wanted Out”

Singer Fantasia opened up about regretting her suicide attempt.

The award-winning singer sat down for an interview with the hosts of the daytime talk show “The Real” and revealed that she feels remorse for trying to commit suicide. “When I tried to just get away from the world. Some will say, commit suicide. I didn’t think it was me trying to kill myself. I just wanted to be away from all the noise. If I could do that over, I would,” she said.

Fantasia’s journey to success wasn’t always smooth. The singer endured tensions with her music label, financial hardship, and tumultuous personal relationships. Back in a 2010 episode of ”Behind the Music,” Fantasia expressed that stress took a toll on her. The artist overdosed on a sleep aid and aspirin.  “I didn’t have any fight in me,” she said. “I didn’t care about anything. I just wanted out. At that moment, I wanted out. I wanted it to be over with — all of it, all of that sh*t.” She added, “I just sat in the closet and looked at the mirror and took all the pills in the bottle. I wanted to go to sleep and just be at peace. I knew exactly what I was doing. You can’t accidentally take a whole bottle of pills.”

But today, she lives a brighter life. She is now married with a child and is getting ready to tour with #RobinThicke, #Tank, and #TheBonfyre. In addition, she also released her album, ’Sketchbook.’ “If I could do that over, I would.” Loni Love clarified, “You wouldn’t do it?” Fantasia responded, “Yes.” Loni, 48, told the Grammy Award-winning singer, “We’re glad that you didn’t.”
